EVENT NOTICE: Mazama College and Career Fair

Mazama High School is expecting about 1,250 students and more than 60 businesses, colleges and military representatives for the second annual Mazama College and Career Fair on Wednesday, April 11.

“We hope that the fair helps create a stronger college and career ready culture at the Klamath Falls high schools,” said Jessica Radmaker Reichardt, school counselor at Mazama, “which will, in turn, strengthen the workforce in Klamath County.”

The goals of the college and career fair are to:

  • Expose Klamath Falls high school students to a wide variety of potential careers.
  • Educate students as to what steps they need to take in order to obtain a career and be
  • successful in a particular career field.
  • Bridge the gap between high school and careers.
  • Put students in contact with individuals (i.e. colleges, apprenticeships, training programs) who can help them continue their education/training after high school.

At the fair students will learn to network with local businesses and professionals who can support them in their educational and career goals. Colleges and universities will also be attending, and students will have the opportunity to speak with representatives about what is required to be admitted to college and what it takes to be successful in a college setting. And students may also find part-time jobs, internships or apprenticeships at the fair.

The college and career fair isn’t just for students. It’s for businesses, too. Through the fair they can reach out to the future workforce of Klamath County.

“Businesses will be able to help students bridge the gap between high school and careers,” Radmaker Reichardt said. “Business people will be able to share their experiences and the paths they took to get to where they are now.”

Radmaker Reichardt and College and Career Pathway Advisor Armando Ojeda have been organizing the career fair since the conclusion of the inaugural fair last April.
