2018 Tulelake Butte Valley Fair Court - Baylin Holbrook and Abigail Scanlan (TBV Fair)

On Wednesday, January 31st, five young women competed in the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair Court Competition for the titles of Miss Tulelake and Miss Butte Valley. A panel of 5 judges scored the applications and conducted the interviews.

The Committee of judges, who were very impressed with the quality and depth of the applicants, selected Baylin Holbrook as Miss Butte Valley and Abigail Scanlan as Miss Tulelake, both of which will be representing the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair this summer at numerous events and will be eligible to receive a scholarship upon their high school graduation to help further their continued education.

Miss Butte Valley

Baylin Holbrook is a 16-year-old Sophomore at Butte Valley High school. She is the daughter of Craig and Myndy Holbrook of Macdoel, California. She has two sisters, Maren and Reagan. She enjoys playing sports, 4-H & FFA activities, fishing, kayaking, and having fun with family and friends.

Baylin is a caring, friendly and outgoing young lady who is involved in numerous school and community activities. She is a member of the Butte Valley High School Volleyball, Basketball, and Track teams and has served on the Tulelake Butte Valley Junior Fair Board for three years. She is currently the Sophomore Class President at Butte Valley High School.

Baylin had been involved in 4-H for eight years and has been a club officer for seven of those years. She has shown animals at the fair every year starting with Pee-Wee Showmanship when she was three years old! She currently has both swine and beef projects.

As Miss Butte Valley, Baylin would like to visit school classrooms throughout the area promoting the fair and getting more youth interested in participating in the fair.
After high school, Baylin plans on attending University of Nevada Reno majoring in Agriculture Business.

Miss Tulelake

Abigail Scanlan is a 17-year-old Junior at Tulelake High School. Abigail is the daughter of Jennifer and Eric Scanlan. She has one sister Mary. She enjoys dance, cooking and baking, and is involved in FFA, Interact and ACADECA.

Abigail is a dedicated person who has a passion for helping others. She has served at the Vice President of the Tulelake FFA Chapter and is currently an Academic Decathlon Honors Team Member. She has competed in many local, State and Regional FFA competitions.
Abigail is looking forward to stepping out of her comfort zone and becoming more involved in her community as Miss Tulelake.

After graduating from Tulelake High School, Abigail plans to attend a University and major in Dance.

They both look forward to rising to the occasion of representing their fair at various festivals and fairs this spring and summer. They will also assist with the Tulelake Butte Valley Fair Friends “Casino Night” event on May 5th. The highlight of the girl’s reign will be the Tulelake Butte Valley Fair as they each attend to their royal duties throughout the duration of the fair September 6th - 9th, 2018.
