Klamath Falls, Ore. –  The Ross Ragland Theater is excited to announce the 2017-18 Classical Series begins on Sunday, October 8 at 2 p.m. As always there will be a free pre-concert lecture prior to the concert at 1 p.m.

Comprised of two sensationally gifted and acclaimed virtuosi - clarinetist Maksim Shtrykov and pianist Misuzu Tanaka - the Shtrykov-Tanaka Duo has been heard throughout the U.S., with patrons often demanding they be rebooked immediately.

Clarinet and piano duos are considered rare gems on the modern concert stage despite the immense repertoire. With its innovative programming, master classes and recitals, the Duo has made it their mission to transform this instrumental combination from a rare occurrence to a welcomed guest in concert series across the globe – a goal the Ragland is happy to help them achieve.

“It’s really an honor to have a duo of this caliber coming to Klamath Falls,” says RRT interim executive director, Mark McCrary.  “Their showmanship and musicality is unparalleled.”

Maksim and Misuzu first met in December 2012 and, as avid chamber music collaborators, instantly felt a unique artistic connection resulting in an inspiring and creative friendship. Both artists are graduates of The Juilliard School and enjoy extensive international solo careers that have heard them in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Germany’s Leipzig Gewandhaus and Japan’s Izumi Hall.

The Duo’s work often focuses on the last works of Johannes Brahms, Camille Saint-Saëns and Francis Poulenc. Each of these composers chose the clarinet as their last medium, referring to its rich sound and soulful expression in the late stage of their lives, entrusting in it a lifetime of wisdom and experience.

Tickets to the concert are $15, 19 and 24 before processing fees.  Student, senior and military discounts are available as well as the rush pricing for students with a valid Oregon Tech or KCC ID.

The 2017-18 performance season is sponsored by KLAD, Big 98.5, Sunny 107, The Eagle, Forward Vision Media, Herald and News and the Oregon Arts Commission. This show is sponsored by ZCS Engineering, Inc.
