McCrary to Continue Leading Ross Ragland

Mark McCrary, Executive Director (Ross Ragland)

Klamath Falls, Ore. – After an extensive six – month nation- wide search to find a suitable replacement for long time Ross Ragland Executive Director Mark McCrary; the search has been suspended and Mr. McCrary will stay on as the Executive Director. “We had a good response to our search and some very qualified candidates” Theresa Silver Board Chair of the Ross Ragland Board of Directors remarked “However we began to recognize some real time constraints with the opening of our 2017-2018 season and the amount of time it would take to get a new Director fully educated on our existing programs, some new internal changes as well as future plans”.

“I have humbly agreed to stay on as the Executive Director of The Ross Ragland Theater,” said Mr. McCrary. “There are a number of ideas I helped craft during my time as Executive Director and I look forward to seeing those idea flourish.” He also mentioned that there were a number of transitions that needed a focused and experienced hand in managing. “A few months ago, I began reshaping how the staff might look if we maximized time and resources,” he said, “there were a couple of positions that were really more part-time than fulltime and we decided to explore combining those rather than hiring separate individuals for the functional positions.” Ms. Silver agreed stating that this was a great opportunity to be careful stewards of the generous resources that the community has entrusted to the Ragland.

Another transition that the organization has implemented was to hire an Associate Director in charge of marketing and fundraising. Michael B. Miles has taken on that role to create a more cohesive process between the two functions. McCrary explained that many nonprofits have one staff person that oversees these two areas for cohesiveness and continuity to maintain and build relationships in the community. “Michael is a good asset to the mix of staff,” said McCrary. Silver agreed stating that “the board felt that moving in this direction will alleviate some of the pressure on Mark to expand his leadership once Michael gets fully trained.”

The decision for Mr. McCrary to stay on as the Executive Director was a mutually beneficial agreement made between Mr. McCrary and The Ross Ragland Board of Directors.
