Yotes Take Down Owls

CALDWELL, Idaho - Marija Djonovic the College of Idaho with 33 assists and 11 kills tonight as the Yotes swept Oregon Tech at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. With the win, the CoI move to 17-3 on the season with a 9-3 conference record and the Owls slip to 4-8 in the CCC and 6-11 overall with the loss.

Chase Bohman paced the Owls with 12 kills with Bailey Nelson adding 9 kills and Cheyanne Laber chipping in 7-kills.

The first set was the tightest for the Owls and the Yotes. They were almost even in kills and errors, but Oregon Tech held the edge in attack percentage with .233 compared to College of Idaho's .224. The largest lead of the set belonged to Oregon Tech when they led 7-4 after a six-point run. A Chloe Lampman kill and Kilee Lopez ace brought the Yotes back into it, and the score stayed within two points for the remainder of the set. The Yotes won 25-23.

The Yotes used Oregon Tech's -.019 attack percentage to win the second set 25-20. While the Owls kept the score within two points and led twice, they had four consecutive attack errors which gave the Yotes a 24-19 lead. They ultimately won the set 25-20.

In the final set, the Yotes had an attack percentage of .229 compared to the Owls .156. The Owls pulled ahead twice early in the game, but a service error and kill from Lampman kept them from maintaining their lead. The Yotes won the set 25-20.

Lampman was the only Yote with double-figure kills tonight with 12, but Jackie van Vliet, Mali Sawyer and Alaina Slater came close with nine, eight and seven. van Vliet also led in blocks tonight with four. Josie Whitehead led in aces with three while Kilee Lopez had two along with a team-high 21 digs. Miah Perez also had a good night with two aces, four kills and 12 digs.

Oregon Tech returns home to host Walla Walla University Friday at 4:00 PM at Danny Miles Court.
